The Weller Life:
We believe that people who have an active social life, eat well, engage in wellness activities, and enjoy security and peace of mind, will naturally lead a better, more independent and more fulfilling life.

Specific examples that demonstrate our approach to building and operating senior living communities include:
More

  • $21 million invested into building or enhancing wellness centers since 2008.
  • Dedicated wellness staff at each community assist our members in improving their quality of life through better cardiovascular function, increased strength, greater flexibility, better balance, enhanced endurance, intellectual stimulation, healthy menus, education, and overall fitness.
  • Research partnership with Wake Forest University Medical School, developing new tools for health assessments for our members, dietary programs for healthy weight management, exercise programs and more choices promoting independence while aging.
  • Alzheimer's and dementia residents participate in our Waves program, which combines the therapeutic effects of warm water with the benefits of aerobic exercise. Paired with a skilled caregiver, residents execute a series of aquatic exercises that reduce anxiety, improve appetite and increase lower-body strength.

Person-Centered Care:
While we believe our wellness programs help our residents remain in their independent homes longer, some individuals do need to move into our health care facilities. These individuals continue to benefit from our commitment to maintaining the highest possible level of independence, choice and dignity. More

  • Our “Meds at Bedside” system eliminates “institutional” medication carts typically seen in long term care facilities. This program gives residents privacy during medication administration and significantly reduces the possibility of medication errors.
  • We provide restaurant-style menu service with over twenty entrees, an ANYTIME menu in healthcare (our residents can eat whenever they choose) and we serve the same high-quality, great tasting food in all levels of care.
  • Our Alzheimer’s and dementia residents eat family-style alongside their caregivers, fostering the bond between them and decreasing agitation around mealtimes.

Life Story Series:
Our Life Story Series is a documentary-style film project that’s available free-of-charge to all our community members, allowing them to sit down in front of the camera and capture their stories on high-definition film / DVD for families, friends and generations to come.

Advisory Board:
Our Advisory Board is made up of our consumers – the members who live in our communities. Board meetings occur every six to eight weeks and include our Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.
